    Why Bush Billabongs?

We're a supply-only business — no installation upsell, no middlemen, no showroom overheads baked into the price. Just quality septic tanks at a fair price, ready for collection or freight to your block.

Our 1500L tank starts at $949 AUD and our 2500L tank starts at $1,790 AUD (exc GST) — compared with $1,200–$3,000+ charged by traditional plumbing suppliers and hardware stores. Same proven design, a fraction of the markup.

Both tanks are three-chamber polyethylene units. The 1500L is sized for tiny homes, granny flats, cabins and most 1–2 bedroom dwellings at just 61 kg empty — it loads onto a standard ute and slides off by hand. The 2500L (2,750 × 1,210 × 1,180 mm) steps up for larger family homes and multi-bedroom rural builds. Compare both tanks side-by-side.

We offer self-service pickup across NSW, QLD and VIC, plus freight to most regional postcodes on request. Australian owned and direct from the manufacturer — that's the whole model.

Who Our Tanks Are Built For

Our 1500L and 2500L tanks are sized and built for the kinds of small-dwelling, rural-residential and acreage builds that dominate regional Australia. If your project sits in one of these categories, you're in the right place.

    Tiny home owners

Permanent and semi-permanent small dwellings on rural or rural-residential land.

    Granny flat projects

Secondary dwellings sharing a parent block — a simple path to extra accommodation.

    Off-grid and rural builds

Solar-powered properties where a passive, no-electricity septic system is the natural fit.

    Weekend cabins and retreats

Coastal, alpine and bush cabins for personal use or short-stay accommodation.

    Shed-to-home conversions

Existing rural sheds being upgraded with kitchens, bathrooms and full residential plumbing.

    Rural lifestyle blocks

Owner-occupied dwellings on acreage where mains sewer is never coming.

    How the Three-Chamber System Works

Both our 1500L and 2500L tanks separate waste across three chambers — settlement, digestion and clarification — producing clarified effluent that flows safely to your absorption trench.

No electricity required. Pump-out every 3–5 years is all the maintenance it needs.

    Common Questions

A few of the questions we hear most often. For more, see our full FAQ, browse our in-depth septic tank guides, or read the blog.

Do I need a plumber to install a septic tank?

Yes. A licensed plumber is required to install and connect any septic tank in Australia. We're supply-only — we provide the tank, and your plumber handles excavation, connection and the absorption trench. They'll also arrange the relevant council inspection on your behalf.

    How long does delivery take?

Self-service pickup is typically available within 1–3 business days of order confirmation. Freight to regional postcodes usually takes 3–10 business days depending on your location. Get in touch via our contact form and we'll confirm a pickup window or freight quote for your address.

What states do you supply to?

We supply across NSW, QLD and VIC, with self-service pickup locations and freight to most regional postcodes in those states. Visit the dedicated state pages for local detail and pickup areas.

    Which size do I need — 1500L or 2500L?

The 1500L tank suits most 1–3 bedroom dwellings, tiny homes, granny flats and cabins. The 2500L tank is sized for larger family homes, 4+ bedroom rural dwellings and acreage builds with higher daily water use. Use our size calculator or compare both tanks side-by-side to choose.

How long does a poly septic tank last?

A well-maintained polyethylene septic tank — 1500L or 2500L — typically lasts 30–40+ years. Polyethylene resists corrosion and ground movement far better than older concrete or steel tanks. Routine pump-outs every 3–5 years and avoiding harsh chemicals down the drain will keep it running for decades.
