Which tank?
The 1500L tank, from $949, suits most small dwellings of one to two bedrooms: tiny homes, cabins, granny flats and sheds. It weighs 61 kg, so a standard ute can carry it. The 2500L three-chamber tank, from $1,790 ex GST, suits larger family homes and multi-bedroom rural builds. It weighs 110 kg.
Check sewer first
Within Greater Sydney, councils generally require connection to mains sewer where it is available. Ask your council whether your property must connect before you buy a septic tank. Where it is not sewered, an Approval to Install comes before work starts and an Approval to Operate after inspection. Our NSW guide has the details.
